Anchor pull testing is the process of testing the pull-out strength of the industrial fixtures and fittings. The term ‘anchor’ is used in many contexts, but in the construction industry, the term anchor is used for a steel element that is either cast into concrete or post-installed into a hardened concrete structure with the typical purpose of connecting two parts of a structure together or a nonstructural item to the structure.
The purpose of the
anchor pull-out testing is to determine the reliability and load capacity of fixings, including anchor bolt, scaffold anchors, and safety lifeline anchors. Have a look at why anchor pull testing is necessary for buildings.
1. Ensure Safety
The main objective of the anchor pull-out test is to measure the performance of the anchor installation and identify whether or not bolt, screw, anchor, or fixing is safe for use. There are two types of testing that can be performed. First, the anchor can be tested to the designed stress load level to determine how strong and secure the fixing is, and the second is to test an anchor to its failure point. The first method is a non-destructive method that is used during the design and acceptances phases as well as during maintenance intervals, while the second test is used to determine the maximum pull-out strength in the new buildings.
2. Meeting Compliance
Testing the pull-out strength of industrial fixings has become an essential and legal part of health and safety in the construction industry, especially for commercial buildings, railways, airports, or domestic situations. It is very important to ensure the compliance of the fixings as per the standard. When you hire a professional
anchor pull-out test services, your testing company also provides you with a technical report of the testing performed and certifies the safety of your fixings which will safeguard you from legal proceedings in cases of unexpected events.
3. Check Performance
Anchor pull-out testing is used to check the performance of the industrial fixtures. Usually, on-site non-destructive testing methods are used to check the performance of the anchors in place. Anchor pull out test provides you an accurate idea of the pull-out strength of the structure, but parameters like the capacity of the loading apparatus, the bearing ring size, the loading rate, and anchor embedment depth should also be taken into account while preparing the reports so you can actually determine the maximum pull out force. The purpose of the test is to ensure that the anchor bolt or the industrial fixture should not fail or show any movement at the specified designed safe load.
If you need to perform anchor pull-out testing for your building fixtures, you can hire
Concrete Insight. We use the advanced Hydrajaws 2000 Deluxe Master plus for testing the pull-out strength of the industrial fixings, while we use
Enerpac systems with timely calibrated pressure and displacement gauges for load capacities of over 100 tons. Our anchor bolt/ rebar pull-out test equipment can be used to determine the pull-out strength of all industry-specific fixings anchors, rebars, scaffold fixings including ring bolts and drop-in anchors, and any eyebolt and ringbolt. Our equipment capacity ranges (Including Enerpac systems) goes up over a 100 tons of load testing, requiring specially designed heavy apparatuses to perform such tests, Concrete Insight has the equipment, the knowledge, and technical expertise to perform anchorage system installations and testing of almost any size and quantity.
